Exodus
39
speaks of Godly obedience in completing the Tabernacle and it’s
wonderful consequences. After describing each completed piece of the
priestly garments, we read, “As
the Lord commanded Moses
“.
In chapter 28 the instructions are given to Moses, and now they are
crafted to every intricate detail. The chapter begins, “From
blue, purple and scarlet yard, they made woven garments for
ministering in the sanctuary
“.
Don’t miss the point that these are WORK clothes! Even as every
detail of the High Priests attire speaks of our High Priest Jesus
Christ, they are also functional for performing the service required.
But these Hebrew priests were mere shadows of the Great High Priest
that was to follow. Jesus was born to complete the redemptive work
of the cross, while He remained fully God. Hebrews 5:3 reminds us
that Aaron “needed
to offer sacrifices for the sins of the people, as well as himself
“,
but Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. Hebrews 4:15 explains, “we
do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses
“;
Jesus “was
tempted in all things as we are, yet was without sin
“.

The
garments of the Priest made him unmistakable, he stood out from
everyone else. 1 Peter 2:9 calls you and I, “a
royal priesthood
“.
We represent Jesus Christ in our daily lives. We should look
different to the world around us, not because we wear blue, purple
and scarlet, but because we have received forgiveness and the Holy
Spirit lives in us.

The
chapter ends with, “So
all the work on the Tabernacle was completed… Moses inspected the
work and saw that they had done just as the Lord commanded. So Moses
blessed them
“.
When we submit to God’s will, amazingly things come together
perfectly. And notice Moses doesn’t just give them an “atta-boy”,
he blesses them. There is no better compensation in the world then
being given God’s peace. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to, “Trust
in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your
paths straight.

May you be blessed as you bless others today.
